Your perfectly optimized content goes here!

Veneer edge banding is a type of edge banding that uses wood veneer.

There are many different types of edge bandings, but this one has the most creative applications. You can use it to create a natural wood look on plywood or other man-made materials for things like cabinets and furniture. This article will explain how to apply veneer edge bands and fix them if they need repair as well as what you need to know when applying them in some very creative ways!

How do you apply veneer edge bands?

To start, we need to find some wood. I recommend using a hardwood like oak or birch because it will be easier for us to shave down in order to get the desired thickness of our edge banding. You can also use softwoods like pine if you don't mind how thick your edging is going to come out. Remember that whatever type of wood you want as your final product has an effect on what type of veneer edge banding you should use lower price!

A sharp blade and cutting board are required when shaving the edges off any piece of wood so make sure those are available before starting this process-it's not something you'll want to figure out halfway through!

To begin the process of applying an edge band, we need to first decide on a width.

Most veneer is about ¼" thick so that's what I'm going with for my demonstration. If you want your edging thickness to be thinner or thicker than this then adjust accordingly as needed-you can always cut more wood off if it needs to be wider later but there isn't much you can do if it turns out too thin and see-through once applied customer real wood exotic species fully adhered.

Once again, remember that whatever type of wood you are using will have an effect on how wide your final product should end up being! We also need to make sure our blade is sharp enough because dull blades cause jagged edges when shaving down pieces of wood.

Once you have your desired width, it's time to cut down a piece of our chosen hardwood to size-remember that we need more than one!

My first piece is about the same length as my edge banding and I'm going with ½" thick for these examples. The second should be shorter but at least twice as wide as the edging so mine will end up being ¼". Make sure they are all identical in thickness or else this won't work out very well if not everything matches up evenly.

Now comes the fun part-shaving off those edges!

If you want an even look then try using your fingers when applying pressure while shaving near any rough spots on your blade (think like how people use a flathead screwdriver to smooth out a nail).

If you want the edge banding to look more rustic then use your fingers when you're applying pressure and only sharpen your blade periodically.

It also helps if we have a sandpaper block on hand in order for us to get rid of any rough or jagged parts while shaving our edges down-again, think like how people would use this with nails!

Once all four sides are done, it's time to move onto using some wood glue! We need enough that will cover the entire surface area so I'm going with about ½" worth per piece but depending on what type of hardwood you used this may be more or less than needed. This is an important step because this will help keep everything together and prevent the edge banding from peeling away!

wood block

After we've applied our glue, it's time to apply the veneer.

One of my pieces is going on top of the other with their ends meeting in a straight line-which should be parallel to where your blade was when you shaved them down earlier.

It doesn't matter which piece goes on top but I would recommend putting whichever one has less surface area coverage up so that way there are no gaps between the two pieces if these edges don't meet perfectly (it'll also be easier for us to hide any imperfections later).

Once everything is lined up correctly then use some clamps or anything else you have around that can apply pressure evenly and hold everything in place for at least an hour.

After the pieces are dry and ready to go, we need to sand off any rough or jagged edges that might still be visible.

Again, this is something you will probably want a block of wood with some fine-grain sandpaper on it if you don't have one around!

The finer your blocks' grain is then the smoother your edge banding should come out after doing this step so make sure they match up accordingly.

Once everything looks nice and even again (or as close as possible), use some sealant such as polyurethane over our edge banding to protect it from excess water damage or other elements which may weaken its bond between two different types of wood together.-
